“When I travel I want a hotel with a view, with no houses surrounding, not old unless its Victorian style and no more than 5min walk from a tranquil pedestrian town centre. If its in a big city, then it can have houses around it but must be new on the inside. I can use the travel category on daGeek to rate these preferences and find someone who shares my opinion. Then use her top ratings to select hotels in a city where she has been and I plan to visit. I will do the same for Restaurants and I will rate my top cities, countries and geographical areas to get new ideas where to go. From someone with proven preference resemblance to mine -- not just a friend, a family member or a travel agency representative. None of whom resemble me in any details."

“What I want to use daGeek for is similar to Bepaid.com in that in the future I want to tell advertisers that I love to ski but can’t stand the cold, have back problems, and am basically a risk-averse adventurer. Then I want to rent this information out. What I want to get from this is some money and narrowcasted ads more tailored to my needs. It could be an ad promoting a cold-protected ski suit and a trip to Alaska this winter to a health spa with scooters and exciting but easy ski-walking mountaineering trips.”

Páll Kolbeinsson – board member

CEO of Element Software company from 1999 to 2005. Managing Partner at Harbourvest Venture Capital Partners. Degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.

“I constantly look for new authors and book titles to read. Especially in airports, I find myself staring at the book covers not knowing what I might like. I want to be able to use my blackberry to type in the title of the book I have in my hand to know how my twins rated it. Or simply ask daGeek for my twins’ top 5 list. But it must work smooth. Meaning I must be able to narrow down my twins recommendations to the titles that are likely to be available in the airport store (in other words, the most popular books).”
